Description

Jotun Alkydprimer is a single pack oxidatively drying alkyd coating. It can be used as primer or mid coat in atmospheric environments as part of a suitable alkyd System. This product is certified not to spread surface flames and is resistant to dry heat up to 120°C.

Additional Information

Surface Preparation: All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from contamination. The surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504.
Bare steel: Blast-cleaning to Sa 21⁄2 (ISO-8501-1:1988). Power tool cleaning to min. St 2 (ISO 8501-1:1988) may be acceptable, subjected to exposure conditions.
Shopprimed steel: Clean, dry and undamaged approved shopprimer. Coated surfaces Clean, dry and undamaged compatible primer. 
Other surfaces: For aluminium substrates, thorough washing and sweeping with a nonmetallic blast medium is required. The coating may be used on other substrates.

Typical Paint System: Alkydprimer 2 x 40 μm (Dry Film Thickness) followed by Pilot II 2 x 40 μm (Dry Film Thickness). Other systems may be specified, depending on area of use.

Typical Use: Suitable for properly prepared carbon steel, aluminium and wooden substrates.
Marine: Recommended for touch-up purposes.
Protective: Suitable for a wide range of industrial structures.

Application: 
Spray: Use air spray or airless spray.
Brush: Recommended for stripe coating and small areas. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
Roller: May be used for small areas. Not recommended for first primer coat. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
