Manufacturer: Jotun Paints
Balloxy HB Light is a two pack surface tolerant, high solids, high build, polyamine cured, epoxy mastic coating for water ballast tanks. It is specially designed for areas where optimum surface preparation is not possible or desired and provides long-lasting protection in environments with high corrosivity. Suitable for use at temperatures between -5°C and 23°C (Standard version available for applications up to 40°C).
Balloxy HB Light is intended for use in water ballest tanks, on steel behind insulation, in cofferdams and areas with condensation and where blast cleaning may not be possible and on hydrojetted surface still being moist. Balloxy HB Light is also available in a lumi version and is intended as the first coat in water ballast tanks, utilising luminous pigments to aid application and inspection. For application in water ballest tanks at newbuilding stage in accordance with PSPC (IMO Res. MSC 82/W), see the "Application procedure for water ballast tanks - Balloxy HB Light".

Surface Preparation: All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from contamination. The surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504
Bare steel Cleanliness: Power tool cleaning to min. St 2, mill scale free (ISO 8501-1:2007). Improved suface treatment (blast cleaning to Sa 21/2) shall not exceed moderate in SSPC and NACE standards for water prepared surfaces.
Shopprimed steel: Clean, dry and undamaged approved shopprimer.
Coated surfaces: clean, dry and undamaged compatible primer. Contact us for more information. For maintenance UHPWJ to WJ2 (NACE No.5/SSPC-12) or Power tool cleaning to min. St 2 for rusted areas.
Other surfaces: The coating may be used on other substrates. please contact us for more information.
Typical Use: Specially designed for maintenance and repair of dedicated water ballast tanks on vessels and offshore structures.
Spray: Use airless spray.
Brush: Recommended for stripe coating and small areas. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
Roller: May be used for small areas. Not recommended for first primer coat. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
