Jotun Pilot QD Primer is a one component oxidatively drying alkyd coating. It is a fast drying, high build, zinc phosphate pigmented product. Can be used as primer or mid coat in atmospheric environments.
Pilot QD Primer is resistant against dry heat up to 120°C. Suitable when used in conjunction with Jotun Steelmaster range of Intumescent coatings as part of overall system.

Carbon steel: St 2 (ISO 8501-1)
Aluminium: The surface shall be hand or machine abraded with non-metallic abrasives or bonded fibre machine or hand abrasive pads to impart a scratch pattern to the surface and to remove all polish from the surface.
Coated surfaces: Clean, dry and undamaged compatible primer.
Other surfaces: For aluminium substrates, thorough washing and sweeping with a nonmetallic blast medium is required. The coating may be used on other substrates.

In conjunction with Intumescent coatings: Pilot QD Primer 1 x 75 μm (Dry Film Thickness)
Steelmaster according to steelmaster loading table.
Other systems may be specified, depending on area of use.
Typical Use: Suitable for properly prepared carbon steel, aluminium and wooden substrates.
Marine: Recommended for engine room, topside, deck and superstructure.
Protective: Suitable for a wide range of industrial structures.
Spray: Use airless spray.
Roller: May be used for small areas. Not recommended for first primer coat. Care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.
