AZ81 is a clear, single-pack, waterborne topcoat with excellent elasticity and durability that make it ideal for protecting wooden items from outdoor exposure. It is suitable for hardwoods & softwoods exposed to the outdoor environment such as conservatories and other joinery applications.
AZ81 is specially formulated to provide characteristics required for industrial applications, such as flow, transparency and water resistance without the need to add a cross-linker. The coating must be applied in sufficient thickness to prevent premature breakdown of the substrate from ingress of moisture.
- Can be applied by spray methods
- Good resistance against UV degradation
- Very good structure allowing high vertical build without running
- Good waterproofing properties
- Not subject to blocking
- Quick drying
- Not subject to lift
- Excellent adhesion to old films

Carefully clean the surface of the wood, which is to be well dried (14-16% humidity) and free from grease, wax or resin traces. Waterborne products tend to raise the wood fibre and produce rough surfaces. A thorough sanding is particularly important: we recommend progressive sanding with 120-150-180 grit sanding papers.
